The Heart Behind Heartmend
Hello.
I'm Carmen.
Heartmend was created from a place I know well.
After experiencing the deep ache that follows the end of a meaningful marriage, I discovered something that changed the way I understood healing: we were never meant to do it all alone.
During my own season of heartbreak, I longed for a space where women could speak honestly about what they were carrying without pressure to "move on," be fixed, or pretend they were okay.
But Heartmend didn't begin with my heartbreak alone.
For more than 15 years, I have had the privilege of working with and supporting hundreds of women through some of the most vulnerable and transformative seasons of their lives. My work has brought me alongside women navigating body image, alcoholism and recovery, sexual exploitation, domestic violence, career development, personal growth, and major life transitions.
My understanding of healing is personal, too. My own journey has included recovery from alcoholism and rebuilding my life in sobriety. That experience taught me the importance of honesty, community, personal responsibility, faith, and the courage it sometimes takes to begin again. It also showed me just how profoundly a life can change when we are willing to heal.
Those experiences have shaped the way I hold space for other women, not as someone who has all the answers, but as someone who understands what it means to find your way through something difficult and come out changed.
My own heartbreak made so much of what I had learned through the years deeply personal in a new way.
I experienced how disorienting it can be to lose not only a significant relationship, but the life you thought you were going to have. I also discovered how much healing can happen when we stop looking only at what happened around us and gently become curious about what is happening within us.
Our grief. Our fears. Our patterns. Our faith. The things we need to let go of. The truths we need to rediscover. And eventually, the life waiting to be lived again.
Heartmend was born from all of it.
Today, I'm building the kind of community I once needed, a faith-centered place where women healing from the end of a marriage or intimate partnership can find meaningful connection, compassionate support, and opportunities to heal alongside women who understand.
Heartmend isn't about telling women how quickly they should heal or what their healing should look like. And it isn't about gathering together to tear down the people we've loved.
There is room to tell the truth about what happened.
But our attention gently comes back to us.
What is happening in my heart?
What do I need?
What is mine to heal?
Who am I becoming?
I believe there is tremendous hope on the other side of heartbreak. I also believe we find our way there more gently when we don't have to walk alone.
You don't have to carry this alone anymore.
In Love & Gratitude,
Carmen
